Is there a file size limit for PDF tools?
There is no single reliable limit across devices. Performance depends on browser memory, page count, embedded images, fonts, encryption, and the operation you choose. Start with a copy of the file and keep the original available.
Do the tools add watermarks to my PDFs?
Never. ToolGrid PDF tools produce clean output with no watermarks, branding, or modifications beyond what you explicitly request.
Can I use these tools on mobile?
The interfaces are responsive, but large or image-heavy PDFs are more likely to exceed memory on mobile devices. For demanding jobs, a current desktop browser is the more reliable option.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is needed. All tools are immediately accessible without registration, login, or providing any personal information.
What PDF versions are supported?
ToolGrid PDF tools support PDF 1.4 and above, which covers the vast majority of PDFs created in the last 15 years.
Can I process password-protected PDFs?
No. The current browser PDF engine cannot decrypt PDFs that require a password or safely rewrite encrypted permission dictionaries. Use a trusted desktop tool with explicit PDF cryptography support, then process an unencrypted copy here.
Is my data safe with browser-based PDF tools?
Browser-local processing avoids a TOOLGRID upload path for the selected file, but it is not a blanket security guarantee. Review your browser, extensions, device security, and document sensitivity before using any web tool.

How to merge PDF files online
To merge PDF files without installing software, open the PDF Merge tool, drag and drop your files into the upload area, arrange them in the order you want, and click Merge. The combined PDF downloads to your device instantly — no account required.
How the three PDF compression modes differ
Compact re-save keeps the document structure and can reduce structural overhead, but it does not guarantee a smaller file. Balanced raster and smaller raster render every page to JPEG before creating a new image-only PDF. Those modes can reduce some files more aggressively, but they remove searchable text, links, forms, signatures, and vector structure. Always start from the original and inspect the downloaded copy before sharing it.
How to split a PDF into separate pages
